The Many Uses of PerioPatch

Much more than a “oral wound patch,” PerioPatch is the ideal solution for many types of oral wound management. It protects, helps heal, and soothes painful sores, cuts, abrasions, and gingival inflammation in the mouth. But we realize “oral wound” is a broad term, so we thought we’d shed some light on the subject by providing a comprehensive list of conditions that can be treated with PerioPatch.

Irritated gingiva – such as immediately after SRP

For dental professionals, one of the most recommended uses for PerioPatch is immediately after scaling and root planing. Scaling and root planing can leave patients’ gums feeling sore, and the invasive nature of root planing and mechanical debridement can create localized gingival inflammation. Placing a PerioPatch over the site helps soothe gingival pain and protect the area, and since more than one gum patch can be used at the same time, PerioPatch offers simultaneous relief to multiple areas.

Trauma associated with dental procedures

After invasive dental procedures and oral surgery, PerioPatch may be placed near incision sites to help provide relief, protection and also help promote gum healing. The hydrogel wound dressing absorbs wound exudates and effectively keeps out possible irritants that could aggravate the wound, providing wound management so the patient can function with greater comfort.

Aphthous ulcers (canker sores)

Anyone who’s had a canker sore knows just how painful they can be! And the pain is usually worsened when spicy or acidic foods or beverages come into contact with the sore. Placing a PerioPatch over the sore effectively seals it off and protects it from normal activities, such as eating and drinking, providing much-needed pain relief for the patient.

Abrasions caused by braces, dentures, or other intraoral appliances
