PerioPatch® Patient Information
After identifying the affected area, the patient should be advised to swallow, and then attach the lighter side of the patch directly to the affected area. In the event that multiple areas of the mouth are affected, the patient may place more than one PeriZone™ PerioPatch® in the mouth at the same time to protect multiple areas simultaneously.
Patients may apply one patch on the affected area 1 to 3 times a day for up to 3 days. Studies show that the application of 3 patches on the first day is most efficacious.
The outer backing of the patch will loosen and dislodge after an hour or two. It can then be removed. The underlying hydrogel dressing will remain on the oral tissue for the next several hours. All components of the patch are ingestible, so there is no concern if any part of the patch is swallowed.
While the hydrogel wound dressing is in place, the patient should not brush or floss in the area of the patch, nor eat for one hour after application. The patch should not be applied prior to sleeping.
